Live like there’s
no tomorrow.
Love extravagantly.
Lead a life to be followed.
Goodbye ordinary,
Goodbye ordinary.
Okay, I haven’t really posted in quite a long time, so this will be my post that catches everyone up on my life.
Christmas Eve I spent with my dad’s side of the family at my Aunt Laura and Uncle Steve’s house. We usually spend it at my grandma and grandpa’s house, but grandma isn’t doing well since her stroke she had a few years back. Anyway, it was a great time with the family as usual. I just love getting together with them, I love them a lot, and they’re great people. I always wish I could see them more.
So, we’re at Christmas Eve, I’m in the guest bedroom with two of my cousins talking and having a good time when we hear my Uncle Jerry say, “Guys, one of the neighbors rented a REINDEER!” Now, I wasn’t quite sure whether I should believe this or not, for one, my Uncle Jerry is super tricksy. He is always being a little prankster and is quite the joker. However, the Schroeders (my family’s house we were at) do live in a pretty wealthy neighborhood in Calabasas. So I figured one of their neighbors just might be crazy enough, so that was actually believable. Regardless, the whole family leaves the house to go see this reindeer. I’m saying as we walk out of the house “I’m not sure I believe this, I mean, it is Uncle Jerry.” We all get to the driveway, and everyone stops. I of course like a dumbbell am still looking for this reindeer wondering why everyone had stopped. Then I get my mind off of reindeer and realize that there is a car in the driveway with wrapping paper on it. Sure, I had noticed this when I went outside, but I looked past it originally because I was looking for that stupid reindeer (which of course I never saw becasue I was right, it didn’t exist). Haha. I guess it just didn’t register the first time I saw the car.
But anyway, this is what I saw:
I of course knew right away what it was, though my dad thought that wrapping it would make me not know what kind of car was underneath. You see, I wasn’t expecting this for Christmas at all. But I did know we were looking for cars and wanted to buy one by the end of the month. We were looking at the Mazda 3 and the Ford Fusion Mostly. However, I knew that under that wrapping paper was indeed a Ford Mustang. I had been coveting the Mustang since I was a child. I had always wanted one. Apparently, my dad was able to find one, and get it for me within his price range, (which was wayyy low for a Mustang). But somehow, the stars were in alignment and he did it.
This would be me realizing that the car in the driveway was in fact, mine.
I then unwrapped it
And of course it was/is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. It’s a 2008, and when we bought it, it only had 9200 miles on it. Seriously. The thing is practically brand new.
This is my favorite picture
So needless to say, that was one Christmas present I was definitely not expecting, and I still can not believe. I never thought I’d be one of those people who got a car for Christmas. I just feel like that’s such an expensive thing and it’s like WOAH. I guess I can’t really explain it. However, I can’t quite remember the last time I saw my parents so happy. It was just wonderful.
Christmas Day was wonderful as well. I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep, seeing as I sang at Midnight Mass, got to sleep at about 2:30, then had to be up the next morning and at church by 6:30 so I could also sing at the 7am service. But hey, Jesus is what it’s all about right? So who cares if I didn’t sleep, I got to go to church and help people worship at three different services. After my family had all gone to church after the 9:00 Mass, we came home to Yia Ya and opened presents. That was pretty awesome. I just love having Yia Ya around in all honesty. She was so excited about Christmas, getting people things, watching everyone open presents, and of course opening hers. We were pretty blessed to all be together as a family that day, this year as our first year with our new addition to our family. Our family has a lot of fun shopping for each other, so Christmas is pretty fun for us. Later in the day I took a nap for a few hours, then we went to my Aunt Penny and Uncle Steve’s house in Woodland Hills like we do every year. That was nice, some of the people we see at that party we only get to see a few times a year, so it’s always good to see them. I of course had fun showing off my new car. Haha. Aunt Penny and Uncle Steve got me a netbook for Christmas. That was totally unnecessary of them, but so appreciated by me. I don’t have a laptop or anything that I can bring to school, I always have to use our slow desktop at home or use school computers. It’s frustrating. So this will be so so useful for this next semester, and for the next school that I go to. I’ll be taking a lot of classes next semester, and this will be a great help to me.
The week after Christmas was the greatest week I can remember having in a long time.
On Tuesday, almost our entire family on my Dad’s side went to Knott’s Berry farm. There were eighteen of us that went. It was so nice. Besides holidays, I can’t remember the last time so many of us got together to do something.
After that, my grandma and her twin, my Aunt Fran stayed with us for the rest of the week. My grandma is the one with the pink jacket in the wheelchair and my Aunt Fran is the one with the black and white jacket and blonde hair behind her. It was a kick having them with us. It really was great having them around, they’ve never stayed with us together before at our house. We used to travel with them when I was young, but we haven’t done that in years. We got our nails done, went shopping at South Coast Plaza, and went to see Mission: Impossible. Aunt Fran even taught me how to knit! It’s really fun, and I’m pretty darn good at it now. Except for the fact that we never did go over how to start something on a needle. Haha. I guess I’ll just have to teach myself that one.
New Years Eve was nice as well. I got to spend the evening with Alex at his friend Abby’s house. She always has really nice parties, it was quite fun. Alex looked so spiffy, I wish I had taken a picture. But of course like a dumbbell, I did not bring my camera. At midnight we toasted to a happy third year. ♥
And that’s my life in a nutshell the past week!
In conclusion, I am a very blessed and happy person. I’m now enjoying my last week of vacation before I start hopefully my last semester at Moorpark.
